| RUST | Light yellow pustules are found on all above ground plant parts, more on lower surface of leaves. Pustules become reddish brown in colour. Severely infected leaves shrivel and fall off. Stem infection results in cracking and breaking of stem which leads to drying and death of plant. Pod infection deteriorates the quality of fruits. Serious during dry winter months.
| 1. Early sowing minimises the disease intensity.
2. Spray Dithane M-45 (0.2%) or Sulfex (0.3%) at 10 days interval.
3. Use resistant varieties.

| STEM ROT |
Lower leaves become light yellow. Leaflers roll deownward, wither and become yellow. Depressed rough and corky necrotic lesions on stem and roots. Girdling of stem at soil level. Rotting of entire root system.
| 1. Use Benlate (0.2%) or Bavistin (0.2%) for seed treatment.
2. Soil drenching with Brassicol (0.2%).
