| WILT | First sign in the yellowing of leaves from tip to downwards. Leaves of the affected branches show yellowing, curling and drying but do not shed for sometime. Affected branches bearing infected leaves begin to die and the bark show severe splitting. It is severe at the time of fruit bearing.
| 1. Remove and destroy dying branches. Uproot and burn severely affected trees.
2. Soil treatment with lime and gypsum (4 lb/tree) to prevent further spread.
3. Use resistant varieties.
4. Soil drenching with Bavistin (0.1%).

| FRUIT ROT | Dark brown, water soaked, circular spots appear at the blossom end of the immature green fruits. Infected fruits rot. Serious during rainy weather. | 1. Spraying with Ridomil (0.1%) or Aliette (0.2%) or Dithane Z/78 (0.2%) or Aureofungin 10ppm at weekly intervals during the rainy days. |

| FRUIT CANKER |
: It produces numerous circular to raised dark coloured corky cankerous growths on the fruits. Infected fruits are defarmed give a chickenpox appearance, do not ripe and are not palatable. | Dithane Z-78 (0.2%) or Difolatan (0.2%) at monthly intervals during July to October give good control. |
| ANTHRACNOSE | Most characteristic symptoms include the appearance of small spots of the size of pinhead which are first observed on unripe fully grown fruits during rainy season. They are dark brown to black in colour, sunken, circular and bear numerous minute black stromata in the centre of the lesions. In favourable weather, several spots coalesce to form bigger lesions. The diseased portions are comparatively harder than soft. Unopened flowers and buds are also attacked and they are shed. The fungus produces necrotic ashy grey lesions on leaf tips and margins. | 1. Difolatan (0.3%) or Dithane M-45 (0.2%) give good control.
2. Pruning of diseased twigs and destruction of fallen leaves and fruits are also helpful.
Well maintained trees resist the attack of the disease.
