ANTHRACNOSE

Disease areas on fruits develop as dark, round, sunken spots. Infected fruits drop off prematurely. Black, minute spots develop on infected seed.

1. Treat seed with organomercurials, Thiram (0.2%) or Brassico (0.2%).

2. Spray Difolatan (0.2%) or Dithane M-45 (0.2%) or Blue Copper/Blitox (0.4%) at 15 days interval.

POWEDERY MILDEWWhite talcum powder like growth on the leaf. Diseased leaves are shed, plant remains stunted. Spray Sulfex (0.2%) at 10 days interval
LEAF SPOT
(a)Cercospora leaf spotOval or oblong spots with light grey centres on leaves ; stalks and stem. Infected leaves drop off prematurely.

1. Treat seed with Bavistin (0.2%) or Dithane M-45 (0.2%).

2. Spray Bavistin (0.1%) or Difolatan (0.2% or Dithane M-45 or Dithane Z-78 (0.2%) at 15 days interval.

(b)Alternaria leaf spotIrregular, brown to dark brown spots with concentric rings inside the spots. Fruits are also attacked rarely. Diseased leaves are shed prematurely. Affected seeds are discolored.

1. Spray Dithane M-45 (0.2% or Dithane Z-78 (0.2%) or Blitox/ Blue Copper (0.4%).

2. Treat the seed with Thiram (0.2%) or Dithane M-45 (0.2%) or Captan (0.2%) .

4. CHILLI MOSAIC (caused by cucumber mosaic virus) Infected plants exhibit mosaic mottling blistering and deformation of leaves. At times small rings are also observed on the leaves. Mottling symptoms are also noticed on the infected fruits.

1. All the infected plants should be removed from the field.

2. Application of Furadon @ 1 kg a.i. /ha at the time of transplanting seedlings. This should be followed by 3-4 foliar sprays of either monocrotophos (0.05%) or Dimecron (0.05%) at 10 days interval

3. Application of mineral oils like Krishi Oil or Sunoco 7 E (2%) are also effective in controlling this disease.

4.Barrier crops like sunflower or jowar or Bajra should be sown all around chilli crop at least 2 months before transplanting the chilli seedlings.

CHILLI MOSAIC (caused by potato virus Y) This disease characterized by several mosaic mottling, vein banding and interveinal chlorosis of the infected leaves. Fruits from infected plant show chlorotic streaks and rough skin. Same as described for chilli mosaic caused by cucumber mosaic virus.
CHILLI LEAF CURLSymptoms consists of abexial and adexial curling of the leaves accompanied by puckering and blistering of intervenial areas and thickening and swelling of the veins. 1Same as described for the control of chilli mosaic
